1. Narrow down your Airbnb location

Choosing the right location can make or break your Airbnb experience. Look for a property that is central, this will make transportation to restaurants, attractions or markets easier, saving on cab fares.

2. Know your price range

3. Make a list of amenities you require.

How important are amenities like wifi, AC, on-site parking, a washer and dryer? Will you be making some of your own meals? Look for kitchen appliances like a dishwasher, oven, BBQ and a coffee machine. Do you prefer a place that has cleaning services included? What are your requirements for a happy stay? 4. Read ALL reviews.

It is easy to quickly scan the rating bubbles on Airbnb, but we encourage you to take the time to read reviews as well. Read the top-rated reviews, the lowest reviews and definitely the most recent reviews before you make your decision. Is there a reoccurring trend? Do guests say that they will stay again? You can also look to see if the property has Trip Advisor reviews too.

5. Look at ALL photos.

Get a good feel for your Airbnb options by browsing both ‘owner uploaded’ and ‘visitor uploaded’ photos. Check that the visitor uploaded photos are similar to the owner uploaded ones to avoid a surprise on arrival. Great Airbnb hosts often invest in good photos. We recommend choosing a property that takes the time and effort to do this as it often means that they will also take the time and effort to make sure that you enjoy your stay.

6. Look for a super host property.

Super host status is earned over time. Here are the requirements:

• Completed at least 10 trips
• Maintained a 50% review rate or higher
• Maintained a 90% response rate or higher
• 0 cancellations
• Maintain a 4.8 overall rating

Choosing a super-host property means that you are more than likely going to have a smooth booking process and enjoyable stay. Reach out to your host before you book, to get a feel for them. Ask them questions about the property, the island, airport transfers, the more questions you ask before your stay, the more smoothly your trip will go.
