1. Documentation

Our first recommendation is to make sure that your passport is valid. I have been at the airport with a passport that only had 6 months left and I wasn’t allowed to travel. Make sure that you have photocopies of your birth certificates, passports, visas, credit and debit cards, and your driver’s license. Buy a Travel Passport Wallet Holder and put all your documents together. If your child will be traveling with a relative other than either parent, remember to provide them with a letter of consent from both parents. It is a good idea to find out from your country’s passport office what documents are needed for presentation to the custom authorities

2. What to pack

You certainly don’t want to realize once you are on the plane that you forgot to pack certain necessities for your child. If traveling with a baby, do not forget extra diapers. Food: you can include some snacks; Also the powder formula you need during the flight.

Our suggestion is to pack two sets of clothing and think about layers as when your children arrive in Barbados, they will definitely start peeling off those layers.

The  Medications: Is your child taking any medications that you must bring? Just remember to bring the prescription with you. I never travel without a good thermometer, or Tylenol… you might want to check with your child’s Pediatrician for any recommendations he/she might have for you. A good idea is to bring baby’s sunscreen and cream as you might not always find the one you use for your child in other countries.

Check with your airline how many pieces of luggage, the dimensions and the weight allowance.

3. Keeping your kid entertained on board

If you have an iPad or any other electronics or toys that you use to entertain your kids, plan to bring them with you. If your child has a preference of a small blanket or pillow, pack it. It will help him/her feel more comfortable during the flight. Also, don’t forget to make sure the vaccines scheduled are not due and ask your doctor if there are any specific vaccines that your child might require in the destination you have picked.

Do not forget to bring with you the snacks and or bottled food your baby/child enjoys as you might find that the airline does not offer what you are looking for.

At Craggy Nook Villas we will do everything to try and accommodate any special requests you might have for you and your family during our visit to Barbados.
